What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They let a site remember things about your visit — like whether you’ve seen a message before — and are widely used to make websites work, or work better.

Cookies on this site

This is a small, mostly static business website. It runs no advertising or social-media tracking scripts, and it does not set any non-essential cookies. We do measure how the site is used — but with a tool chosen specifically because it doesn’t need cookies to do it. If that ever changes, we will update this page and, where required by law, ask for your consent first.

The only cookie-like storage in use today is:

• Strictly necessary: if you submit the quote form, our form provider (Netlify) may use a short-lived cookie purely to process that submission securely and prevent spam. This is not used to track you across the web.

How we measure visits

We use Fathom Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. Fathom is a privacy-first alternative to Google Analytics: it sets no cookies, doesn’t follow you around the web, doesn’t build a profile of you, and doesn’t sell or share any data. It collects only anonymous, aggregated figures — page views, rough location by country, and which site sent you here — none of which identifies you personally. Because no personal data is collected and no cookies are set, this needs no consent banner under UK GDPR and the PECR.

Cookie categories, for reference

If cookies are added to this site in future, they will fall into one or more of these standard categories:

• Functional — required for a feature you’ve specifically requested, such as remembering a form in progress.
• Preferences — remember choices you’ve made, such as region or language.
• Statistics — anonymised analytics that help us understand how the site is used, so we can improve it.
• Marketing — used to track visitors across sites for advertising purposes. We have no current plans to use these.

Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you view, delete and block cookies through their settings. Because this site currently sets no non-essential cookies, changing these settings should not affect how it works for you. If you block all cookies on other sites, some of their features may stop working — that’s a browser-wide setting, not something specific to us.
